Carrying Out the Mission:
From Discipleship to Leadership
– By Surleigh Tara
When I rededicated my life to Christ in 2008, I didn’t just find faith—I found purpose. That purpose has since grown into a mission: to ignite spiritual transformation through intentional discipleship, authentic mentorship, and servant leadership. But a mission is only as powerful as the plan behind it. Here’s how I intend to carry it out.

1. Living the Message Before Preaching It
Transformation begins with authenticity. I believe that before I can lead others, I must first walk the path myself. That means continuing to live a life of obedience, humility, and service—at home, in my community, and online. My life must reflect the message I preach.
2. Equipping Through the Written Word
My book, Discipleship to Leader, is more than a testimony—it’s a tool. It’s designed to equip everyday believers with a practical, Scripture-based framework for spiritual growth. I will continue to write, publish, and distribute resources that help others move from belief to leadership, without theological jargon or denominational barriers.
3. Mentorship That Multiplies
Mentorship is at the heart of discipleship. I will continue to mentor individuals one-on-one, walking with them through recovery, restoration, and spiritual maturity. But more importantly, I will train them to mentor others. This multiplication model ensures that the mission doesn’t stop with me—it grows beyond me.
4. Building a Digital Discipleship Platform
Social media is today’s marketplace. Through platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, I share Scripture reflections, testimonies, and encouragement that reach far beyond my local community. I intend to expand this digital ministry, using every post as a seed of truth in a world hungry for authenticity.
5. Creating Safe Spaces for the Next Generation
One of my dreams is to establish a youth center—a place where young people can learn life skills, grow in faith, and discover their God-given identity. This center will be a hub for mentorship, discipleship, and leadership development, rooted in biblical values and cultural relevance.
6. Speaking Truth to Power Through Jubilee and Justice
My next book project will explore the biblical principles of Jubilee and Justice. I believe that spiritual leadership must also address social and economic restoration. Through teaching, writing, and advocacy, I aim to help believers understand and live out God’s heart for justice in every sphere of life.
Final Thoughts
This mission is not about building a brand—it’s about building the Kingdom. It’s not about followers—it’s about faithfulness. Whether through a book, a Bible study, a social media post, or a quiet conversation over coffee, I am committed to carrying out this mission with everything I have.
